With VRF systems with central control, rooms automatically switch back when a guest leaves the room, via a key card system or occupancy sensor, which delivers considerable energy savings in larger hotels. Which air conditioning solution suits your hotel?

The right solution depends on the size of the hotel and the desired level of central control.

For small hotels and B&Bs of up to 10 rooms, a multi-split system per floor or wing offers individual room control at a relatively low investment. Each room gets its own indoor unit, connected to a shared outdoor unit. For medium-sized hotels of 10 to 30 rooms, a VRF system with central control is the most efficient choice. All rooms and communal areas are managed from one system, with individual settings per room. For larger hotels with 30 or more rooms, we recommend a full VRF system integrated with a building management system, which can be monitored centrally and linked to the reservation system for automatic energy management.

Where do you place the air conditioner in a hotel room?

In a hotel room the same placement rules apply as in a bedroom, but with extra emphasis on aesthetics and noise.

The indoor unit is mounted high on the wall, never directly above the bed. The airflow cools the room without blowing directly onto the sleeping guest. In rooms with a suspended ceiling, a cassette unit is the most aesthetic choice. In hotel renovations, our engineers work as non-invasively as possible and pipes are concealed in suspended ceilings, wall casings or cable trunking that match the existing finish. In hotels, outdoor units are often grouped on the roof or in a plant room, out of sight of guests. Our engineers take into account noise standards for the surroundings and accessibility for maintenance. Each room gets its own remote control or control panel. In combination with a VRF system, central monitoring is possible via an administrator interface.
